UK Defence Intelligence chief air marshal Philip Osborn has opened a new training facility in Lincoln, UK, to educate the technical specialists within the Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) domain.
Defence and security company Leonardo has invested more than £2m in the new academy, where the company will provide training to the cyber and electronic specialists of the future.

With the opening of the new facility, the company will be able to educate 150 students at any one time, which would be three times more than the firm’s current training capacity in Lincoln.
This would enable Leonardo to address the growing market demand for training with the skills required to operate in modern electronics-driven battlespace.
The Lincoln academy will help support and expand the existing activities focused on electronic warfare, in addition to providing a wide range of domain knowledge modules.
The modules will provide the UK Armed Forces with a structured course of education from overview to expert across the CEMA domain.

By GlobalDataIn addition, the Leonardo facility is under contract to host delegates from international allies, including Brazil and South Korea, and nearly 70% of training is expected to be delivered to international customers, thereby supporting the company’s exports from the UK.
Since 2009, the company has had a base in Lincoln in order to provide training and support to the UK Armed Forces based at the nearby Air Warfare Centre at RAF Waddington, as well as visiting delegates from allied nations.
