Milrem LCM has secured a contract extension with Estonia’s Centre for Defence Investment for armoured vehicle repair and maintenance.

Awarded in October 2013, the contract covers the provision of lifecycle management services for the Estonian Defence Forces’ Patria XA-180 and XA-188 vehicles.

Estonian Defence Forces Support Command Technology Section head Marek Sügis said: “Since 2014, the Defence Forces have worked closely with Milrem for better management of the lifecycle of our defence vehicles.

“The knowledge that there are efficient Estonian defence companies with growth potential provides confidence that we can face the challenges in all circumstances.”

“The renewal of this contract shows that close cooperation can lead to the best results in meeting the needs of the Defence Forces.”

Under the existing contract, Milrem was initially contracted for four years, with an option for renewal for an additional four years.

Following the contract extension, Milrem will offer services until the beginning of 2022.

Centre for Defence Investment Armament Procurement Bureau head Margus Padjus said: “The renewal of this contract shows that close cooperation can lead to the best results in meeting the needs of the Defence Forces.

“All parties to the contract, the Centre for Defence Investment, the Estonian Defence Forces, and Milrem, are interested in continuing to work together to provide the best possible support to the units of the Defence Forces.”

Patria Group is the original equipment manufacturer of the XA vehicles and a majority owner of Milrem LCM, the defence vehicle lifecycle management provider.
