The sub-contract for Elbit Systems is scheduled for completion over a three-year period.

Iron Fist APS, developed by Elbit Systems, is designed to protect armoured vehicles from a range of battlefield threats, including anti-tank rockets, anti-tank guided missiles, unmanned aerial systems, loitering munitions, and kinetic-energy tank ammunition.

The system provides coverage in various environments, including both open terrain and urban areas.

According to Elbit Systems, Iron Fist APS has been selected not only by the Israel Defense Forces as its second-generation active protection solution but also by several NATO member armies and other international military forces for use on multiple fighting platforms.

This order follows an earlier contract awarded by GD-OTS to Elbit Systems, which was made public on 5 May 2024.

The latest agreement represents the third instance in which the US Army has chosen Iron Fist APS for its armoured fleets.

Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, president and CEO of Elbit Systems, stated: “Our globally recognized Active Protection System continues to demonstrate its technological edge. As a leading provider in this field, we are proud of our close and strategic partnership with GD-OTS and the US Army, and of the trust placed in us to deliver systems that enhance survivability and protect the lives of American troops in the field.”

In 2024, Elbit Systems also secured a follow-on contract specifically to support enhancements of the US Army’s Bradley M2A4E1 infantry fighting vehicles.
