Aircraft manufacture Boeing says although its third quarter income soared 61 percent it has reduced segments of its 2008 guidance to allow for delays in the delivery of its new 787 aircraft.

Boeing recently pushed back the first 787 flight by six months, to late 2008.

Boeing’s third quarter net income rose to nearly US$1.5bn on sales of US$16.5bn across the company, which reflects a 12 percent improvement in revenues from the same period a year ago.

The company reduced its revenue guidance of US$67.5bn to US$68.5bn, down from initial estimates of US$71bn to US$72bn.
