US newspaper The Sun said the UK Government will commit to sending an extra 2,000 soldiers from the 12 Merchandise Brigade into Helmand Province, Afghanistan in a report published yesterday.

The newspaper said it had received confirmation from the head of the British Army ahead of talks being held between UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and US President Barack Obama during the G20 summit this week.
