The Ukraine has added the new Oplot tank to its army’s weaponry, the country’s Ministry of Defence has said.

Defence Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov said that the tank was technically one of the best, and confirmed that two tanks of similar kind had already been bought.

The Oplot tank design is based on the T-84, which is developed from the Soviet T-80 main battle tank.

Oplot tanks are produced by Kharkiv Malyshev Plant and developed by Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau.
