The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration has awarded a SKr13m contract to secure communications systems provider Sectra to further develop the Tiger system used by the Swedish Defence Forces for encrypted telephony.

The company’s Tiger System for eavesdrop-secure telephone conversations allows peacekeeping forces to communicate in a secure manner between headquarters and troops in the field.

The Swedish-led force Nordic Battlegroup uses Sectra’s Tiger XS for secure IP telephony in command positions and the company’s crypto product for secure tactical radio by troops in the field.

The Tiger XS is a personal voice encryptor that protects telephone calls from eavesdropping over telephone lines, via satellite systems and other channels.
