The US Army has awarded a $43m contract to ITT Corporation to supply enhanced night vision goggles (ENVG) and associated spare parts.
The ENVG is a passive helmet-mounted device for each soldier that integrates image intensification with thermal infrared technology to enable improved mobility and situational awareness through clear target detection and recognition.
The optical device is specifically fielded to infantry troops, military police, traffic controllers, surveillance units and any force likely to engage in urban combat.
The contract has bee awarded by the US Army’s Research, Development and Engineering Command Acquisition Center.
