The US Army has awarded a four-year contract to General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products to produce M2 flex machine guns.
The production contract under initial delivery orders amounts to approximately $100m.

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products gun systems senior programme manager Dean Gagnon said the M2 flex is a belt-fed, recoil-operated, air-cooled, crew-served weapon, capable of right or left-hand feed.
“The weapon’s accuracy, durability and versatility make it ideal for offensive and defensive operations,” he said.
General Dynamics will manufacture the machine guns at its Saco, Maine, facility, which has supplied over 35,000 M2 machine guns to the government since 1979.
The programme management will be carried out at Burlington, Vermont, technology centre.
