The Indian Army has begun using a new British remotely operated vehicle (ROV) for use against improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The vehicles will be used to defuse IEDs planted by militants and come equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology, according to a media report which did not name the vendor or make.

The latest technology of the vehicle features a cable drum up to 150m and fibre-optic cable up to 200m and can be controlled up to a distance of 1km.
The ROV can be operated and monitored by a dedicated command station that serves as a control centre featuring several of the latest tools to deal with IEDs, including a manipulator shotgun, disrupt laser, mechanical grab, car towing equipment and an X-ray system.
