Selex Communications will provide new avionics equipment and systems for 16 of the Italian Army’s Chinook ICH-47F helicopters under a €19m ($26.1m) contract awarded by AgustaWestland.
Under the contract, Selex will provide communication, navigation and identification systems, and replace previously installed systems with new systems.

The new systems will include V/UHF multiband radio communication systems with SINCGARS and SATURN-type ECCM capability, HF radio and Crypto systems, for encrypted communications complying with national and Nato requirements.
Selex will also implement new functions including systems for satellite communications, mode 5 IFF identification systems, landing systems, obstacle warning systems and self-protection systems.
