The Malaysian Government has awarded a contract to BAE Systems to supply new armoured vehicles to the Malaysian Army.

Under the $500m contract, the company will supply 8×8 vehicles, including support and maintenance services over their 20-year service life, according to the Financial Times.

A total of 250 vehicles will be built for the army by a joint venture between BAE Systems and Turkey-based Nurol Group.

The Malaysian Army will use the vehicles for transporting troops onto the battlefield and supporting them in combat.
