A consortium of Hensoldt Optronics and Theon Sensors has won a follow-up contract from the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR) for additional binocular night vision goggles (NVG).
OCCAR signed the amendment to an existing deal on behalf of Belgium and Germany.

The latest deal is worth a mid-three-digit million amount and includes the delivery of 20,000 more MIKRON NVGs to equip the German Armed Forces.
Hensoldt Theon Night Vision, the companies’ joint venture formed in mid-June 2022, will execute the contract on an accelerated schedule.
Following Operational Testing and Acceptance clearance in February 2022, the new batch of NVG sets will be delivered with advanced configuration.

In June 2021, the Hensoldt-Theon consortium won a contract from OCCAR Executive Administration to produce 9,550 MIKRON NVG sets and related support.
While the first batch of NVG sets is expected to be supplied this month, the delivery of the total contractual quantity of 29,550 sets is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2024.
The MIKRON binocular NVG features two 16mm residual light amplifier tubes and an integrated infrared illuminator.
Run by a single AA battery, MIKRON can also be operated with an external battery pack during longer operations. The NVG set can be fixed either on a helmet or a headgear system.
The advanced NVG sets will support the operations of dismounted, airmobile, and air assault soldiers, along with military vehicle drivers in Belgium and Germany.
