Lockheed Martin has announced that it has added the Spike Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) missile system onto Oshkosh’s Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV).

The company carried out the integration on behalf of the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

A multi-purpose, electro-optical/infrared missile system, Spike NLOS can hit targets located up to 32km away.

The system can be integrated with an array of ground, aviation, or maritime platforms. It can be mounted onto any vehicle with a standard palletised interface using a Lockheed Martin developed remote launcher.

The US and six other international countries currently use this combat-proven precision strike system.

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Close Combat Systems vice-president Jerry Brode said: “The combination of Spike NLOS’s long-range and precision-strike capabilities, with the JLTV’s superior agility, will result in next-level mobility and mission effectiveness for our operators.

Lockheed Martin’s net sales totalled $15bn in the three-month period that ended on 27 March 2022. It fell 8% year-over-year due to supply chain related challenges and the impact of the resurgence of Covid-19 infections.

Last month, Lockheed Martin was also contracted to produce the THAAD weapon system for the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
