Rheinmetall and ADS have conducted the live-fire testing of the active defence system (ADS) to demonstrate the system’s capability to destroy threats in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle.

During the testing, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher (RPG-7) fired from a distance of 18m was intercepted and destroyed by the ADS equipped on the Fuchs/Fox 1A8 armoured transport vehicle.

The ADS sensors detected, identified and destroyed the incoming projectile, causing minimal collateral damage to the vehicle due to its active and passive protection systems.

The AMAP-ADS is an advanced system that provides military vehicles with a high level of crew survivability.

The capability of the system to integrate onto a 6×6 vehicle without altering the basic parameters of volume, weight and electrical output and mobility was tested earlier this year.

The German Army has already placed a first serial order for the system.
