According to the agreement, Sikorsky will deliver seven helicopters in 2011 and the remainder in 2012.
The US Army will equip the aircraft with exterior rescue hoists, gunner seats, armoured floors, stackable litters, cockpit heaters and environmental control systems.
The aircraft will be used by the Swedish Armed Forces to perform medical evacuation, utility, and search and rescue missions.
US Army Utility Helicopters Project Office deputy project manager Gregory D. Gore said: "The UH-60 provides all commanders with rapid and agile manoeuvre capability through air assault, general support, command and control, and MEDEVAC missions."
