Cybersecurity company Tortuga Logic and the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) have established a partnership as part of the DARPA Toolbox initiative.
The partners have signed a new licensing agreement to provide DARPA funded research programmes access to Tortuga Radix technology.

Radix is a hardware security verification platform that helps system-on-chip (SoC) design and security teams to detect and prevent system-wide exploits.
According to the company, chip developers can apply ‘systematic hardware vulnerability detection and prevention’ to existing verification methodologies such as ASIC, SoC, and FPGA using Radix technology.
DRAPA will access this technology to enable ‘proactive security verification and assurance measures’ into each step of the semiconductor chip development process.
Tortuga Logic Sales director Brian Walsh said: “This programme is going to drop all of the barriers to bringing Tortuga’s security design lifecycle platform to the DARPA community.

The DARPA Toolbox is an agency-wide effort launched recently to eliminate potential roadblocks that can slow down innovation.
Through this initiative, DARPA aims to provide access to commercially available tools and IP for DARPA sponsored research.
DARPA Toolbox Microsystems Technology Office (MTO) programme manager Serge Leef said: “This partnership with Tortuga Logic provides DARPA researchers access to critical technology to accelerate their security programmes through the DARPA Toolbox Initiative.”
Earlier this year, DARPA signed an open licensing agreement with CEVA to expedite technology innovation for its programmes.
