The proposed sale is expected to enhance the Netherlands’ missile defence capability, and deter current and future enemy threats. The Nato member is expected not to face any difficulty in inducting the armaments into its armed forces.

In a statement, Defense Security Cooperation Agency said: “This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the US by helping to improve security of a Nato ally, which is an important force for political stability and economic progress in northern Europe.”

The statement added that the sale will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

Earlier this month, Longbow (LBL) secured FMS contracts from the US Army to deliver radar units for the AH-64E Apache helicopters to Morocco, the Netherlands, the UAE and India.
