Lowry Computer Products has included Panasonic’s rugged Toughbook H2 tablet PC in its automatic identification technology IV (AIT IV) contract, which serves as a single point of contact for US Army for AIT and technical support procurement.
The addition is expected to support the army’s plans to implement tablet based solutions across their operations in near future.

Running the full Windows 7 professional operating system, the Toughbook H2 is a 10.1-inch dual touch tablet PC, designed to address the requirements of mobile workers in harsh environments.
Besides sunlight-viewable LED screen, the tablet also features twin hot-swappable batteries, third generation Intel Core i5 vPro processor and an array of embedded wireless features, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and optional 4G long term evolution (LTE) or Gobi 2000 3G mobile broadband.
Manufactured with an IP65 certified sealed all-weather design, the tablet’s polycarbonate-encased magnesium alloy chassis is MIL-STD-810G certified to withstand drops up to 6ft, shock, vibration, rain, dust, sand, altitude, freeze/thaw, high/low temperature, temperature shock, as well as humidity and explosive atmospheres.

By GlobalDataPanasonic System Communications Company of North America federal sales director, James Poole, said the Toughbook H2’s lightweight and ultra-rugged design increases its suitability for logistics tracking, data collection and other situations where mobility is paramount.
”As a trusted solutions provider to the armed forces for more than a decade, we are pleased to work with our partners to support the DoD’s mission of using technology to improve supply chain process efficiency and asset visibility,” Poole said.
Awarded by the army in July 2009, AIT IV contract supplies AIT products and services to the US Department of Defense (DoD), Coast Guard, Nato, coalition partners and other foreign military sales (FMS) programmes.
