Harris has been selected as one of the prime contractors to compete for the US Army’s communications and transmission systems (CTS) indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract.
With an overall ceiling value of $4bn for all 12 awardees, the multiple-award contract enables Harris to compete for an array of communications systems and services projects supporting the ongoing upgrade and maintenance of the army’s terrestrial network infrastructure over the next five years.

Harris government communications systems defence programmes vice-president and general manager Ed Zoiss said the contract win reflects Harris and its team members’ expertise in satellite communications systems, networks, information technology and services supporting critical defence missions.
"The CTS work will support the army’s strategic communications networks worldwide, including Harris-built GSC-52 and modernisation of enterprise terminals,” Zoiss said.
Under the contract, the Harris-led team will pursue individual task orders for satellite communications systems and components, multimedia / multi-frequency solutions, as well as corresponding management and administrative responsibilities to support the army’s global satellite communications terminals and terrestrial transmission systems networks.
Potential services may include systems integration, engineering, analysis and facility and site preparation, as well as installation, operation, maintenance, programme management, logistics, technical field assistance and other support activities.

By GlobalDataWithout disclosing the names, Harris noted that the CTS team comprises over 100 companies recognised as leaders in the development, deployment and sustainment of communications and transmission systems technology.
Other CTS prime contractors include L-3 National Security Solutions, Lockheed Martin, Computer Sciences Corporation, AT&T Government Solutions, Serco, Booz Allen Hamilton, Intelligent Decisions, DRS Technical Services, General Dynamics, LGS Innovations and Globecomm Systems.
Administered by the project manager, defence communications and army transmission systems (PM DCATS), the CTS programme will comprise a range of communications and technologies, including satellite, microwave, fibre optics, radio and wireless, and all associated support services.
