Leidos has been awarded task orders to provide engineering, design and fielding support for the US Army’s Emergency Management Modernisation Program (EM2P).
Valued at $47m, the single-award firm fixed-price task orders covers support for the enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) and mass warning and notification (MWN), with network alerting systems and telephone alerting system.

Under the E9-1-1 task order, the company will be responsible for site surveys, designs, procurement, fielding, training and support of E9-1-1 systems, including integration with computer-aided dispatch and land-mobile radio systems.
Besides enhancing response time and accuracy, the E9-1-1 systems also enable on-base 9-1-1 calls to be routed directly to on-base emergency responders, eliminating requirement for callers to dial a seven-digit number.

As part of MWN task order, Leidos will supply an enterprise system for rapidly notifying installation personnel of hazards, threats or emergencies.

By GlobalDataLeveraging multiple media methods for notifications, the system helps the army to send pop-up alerts and emails to desktop computers and smart phones, audible messages to telephones, text messages to cell phones, audible/visual messages to indoor speaker/strobe devices, as well as alert information to social media.
Apart from the government’s integrated public alert warning system network, the system will also integrate large voice towers for outdoor-audible messages, and marquee systems for outdoor visual messages.
Work under the contract is scheduled to be carried out at army installations within and outside the continental US.
The EM2P represents the single integrated acquisition programme for the design, procurement, fielding, new equipment training and lifecycle management of emergency management capabilities in support of army installations.
