Awarded by the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD), the $23m contract covers a range of simulators, both fixed and mobile, dedicated to training for tanks, armoured combat vehicles, driving simulators, intelligence training and other applications.
Specifically, the contract requires the company or its certified subcontractors to operate and maintain driving simulators for Merkava tanks and Namer vehicles, a tactical battle group training (TBT) system, and Skyrider unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) trainers, Defense News reports citing unnamed industry and military sources.
The deal also covers tank crew trainers, and the new MARS intelligence training simulator, which is used for command and control (C2) functions along Israel’s borders.
All training systems are designed to interface with Elbit’s Tzayad Digital Army Program (DAP), a secure command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) network that networks Israel’s headquarter commanders and service branches with armour, infantry, artillery and other speciality forces down to brigade level.

By GlobalDataElbit Land Forces Training & Simulation senior director Army Reserve colonel Ofer Segal was quoted by the news agency as saying that the integration into DAP enable the border control operators set to deploy up north to train on the MARS simulator down south in the real operational environment they are likely to encounter in the Golan Heights.
”The same applies to our TBT, which integrates battlefield simulation with actual C4I systems. That means forces drill on the same command and control network that supports real combat operations,” Segal said.
Support services under the contract are scheduled to be provided over the next five years.
