G-NIUS is set to introduce its newly developed unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) and robotic suite at Eurosatory 2014, which gets underway this week in France at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition centre.
Called Hybrid Multipurpose Vehicle (HMV), the new UGV is designed to perform surveillance, intelligence, defence and homeland security (HLS) missions to save lives and reduce personnel requirements in the theatre.

Available in two variants, including an all electric or hybrid electric that can carry heavy loads of up to 1.2t, the vehicle has a low thermal signature, and features an advanced low-level control system, as well as an ELBIT stabilised weapon station.
Comprising two electric motors, the variant enables a high level of manoeuvrability, while remaining undetected due to a noiseless ride, while the diesel motors allow the vehicle to travel for long distances, simultaneously filling the motor’s battery.
A small footprint robotic suit, Core Unit is engineered to enable any ground transportation platform to become an unmanned vehicle, protecting soldiers while allowing savings on manpower.
It features all systems necessary for defence, intelligence, and surveillance missions, including a mission computer, navigation unit, video audio system, and power distribution unit. The unit also comprises a day-and-night thermal uncooled camera, rear and side cameras, as well as a communication system.

In addition, the easy-to-install and cost-effective Core Unit can be optionally fitted with an obstacle avoidance system and optical surveillance sensor, as well as any other sensors to meet the user’s needs.
