US shipbuilding company Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) Technical Solutions division has been awarded a contract to support the US Army’s non-intrusive inspection system support (NIIS) systems.
NIIS systems provide critical force protection measures to safeguard protect soldiers and secure areas.

They use nuclear source and X-ray technologies to scan vehicles, cargo and personnel for hidden improvised explosive devices and other contraband.
The contract will see the company deliver support and sustainment services for a period of three years.
The $78.4m contract was awarded by the US Army Product Manager Force Protection Systems.
Work will be carried out by Technical Solutions’ Mission Driven Innovative Solutions group (HII-MDIS).

By GlobalDataThe company will deliver maintenance, engineering, configuration management, and training, as well as provide repair, fielding and supply support for the NIIS systems.
HII-MDIS will also provide the sustainment to NIIS equipment operating in the US and overseas.

HII-MDIS has more than 1,700 employees in 36 states and territories and seven countries and provides mission-critical engineering and technical service to information technology, federal civilian, and national security customers.
