The US Government has handed over the second batch of UH-60M Black Hawk multi-mission helicopters to the Taiwanese Army.
The four helicopters underwent ground and air testing, as well as standard inspections following unloading and assembly in southern Taiwan.

All helicopters have been shipped to the Army Aviation Special Forces base in Guiren, in neighbouring Tainan, where army personnel are currently receiving training on the new helicopter.
According to a notification released by the US Defense and Security Cooperation Agency in January 2010, the Taiwanese Army requested delivery of 60 UH-60M Black Hawks for an estimated $3.1bn.
The first batch comprising four helicopters was delivered to Taiwan in December 2014.
The Taiwanese Army said the helicopters will be shipped to Taiwan in ten batches, with the last set of three Black Hawks to be handed over in 2019.

By GlobalDataDesigned to replace the army’s aging fleet of UH-1H utility helicopters, the UH-60Ms would be deployed in northern and southern Taiwan for combat and rescue missions.
An upgraded version of the UH-60 Black Hawk, the UH-60M can be used for tactical transport, utility, combat search and rescue, airborne assault, medical evacuation, as well as aerial sustainment, disaster relief and fire-fighting missions.
Powered by two General Electric T700-GE-701D engines, the helicopter features improved rotor blades and advanced flight control and aircraft navigation control systems. The upgraded aircraft offers improved situational awareness and greater survivability than its predecessor.
The helicopters are also in service with the US Army, Department of Homeland Security, US Customs and Border Protection and the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
