The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has contracted Harris Corporation to supply tactical radio systems for the force’s communications modernisation programme.
Under the $12m contract, the company will provide Harris Falcon III vehicular and handheld radios to the AFP.

Harris will provide the Light Armoured Division of the Philippine Army with Falcon RF-7800V combat net radios, which will be integrated into RF-7800I intercom systems for in-vehicle voice and data communications.
Harris Communication Systems Tactical Communications president Brendan O’Connell said: "These radios will provide soldiers in the Philippine Army with advanced command and control, and real-time situational awareness capabilities.
"They also will have secure interoperability with more than 15,000 Harris Falcon radios currently fielded within the AFP."
The RF-7800I systems allow vehicle crew members to communicate with each other, and can integrate with other vehicular and handheld tactical radio systems.

Weighing 1.1kg, the lightweight radio is fully interoperable with Falcon II radio family. It is suitable for time-critical battle management systems (BMS) due to its integrated GPS receiver and Harris’s new BMS waveform architecture.
