Saab has been contracted to deliver chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) test kits to the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, which is responsible for preventing and dealing with accidents and disasters.

The test kits include advanced indication equipment for detecting and identifying a wide range of CBRN threats.

Using Saab’s equipment, CBRN specialists and decision-makers will be able to better deliver fast and accurate early warnings to units and personnel.

Saab CBRN marketing and sales director Nils-Erik Lindblom said: "The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency has previously purchased our certified transport containers, and after winning an EU procurement, we’ve now signed a general agreement to supply a total of 27 kits with advanced test equipment to the agency in the large metropolitan areas.

"The agreement also includes the purchase of related consumables."

The equipment includes more than 300 different items for forensic sampling of CBRN agents to suit all customer requirements.

Deliveries under the contract will begin this year, with the first kit to be handed over in September.

Saab’s CBRN solutions include systems for automatic warning and reporting (AWR), sampling equipment, certified transport packaging, and a wide range of services and CBRN solutions for individual protection.
