The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has awarded a contract to Exova to continue to provide testing, advising and training services in materials technology and metrology for another two years.

Valued at SEK70m ($7.80m), the contract is the first extension made to a three-year contract with the possibility of two additional two-year extensions.

As part of the contract, Exova will provide technical services to the Swedish Armed Forces (SAF).

Additionally, FMV and the SAF will receive metrological and calibration services for measurement tools and instruments by Exova Metech, the calibration and metrology division of Exova.

The contract covers a wide range of materials and will see experts from Exova Materials Technology in Sweden work as consultants to FMV in composite repair, polymer bonding and sealing, welding and brazing, non-destructive testing, coatings, and fuel and lubricant technology for defence applications.

Prior to the latest contract award, Exova signed an agreement with defence firm Saab to deliver materials technology expertise and testing services over the next five years.
