Greece also aims to acquire equipment for communications, navigation, ground support and testing, as well as spares, publications, maintenance work order / engineering change proposals (MWO/ECPs), technical support and training.

The procurement of these defence articles and services is expected to increase the Greek armed forces' rotary-wing transport capability.

The proposed sale will contribute to the Greek military’s goal to upgrade its capabilities while enhancing interoperability between Greece, the US and other allies.

It is also expected that the proposed sale will contribute to the US's foreign policy and national security by helping Greece, which is an important partner and force for political stability and economic progress.

There is no principal contractor for the sale as the systems will be coming from the US Army stocks.

Built by Boeing, the CH-47 is an advanced multi-mission helicopter that is equipped with a fully integrated, digital cockpit management system, common aviation architecture cockpit and advanced cargo-handling capabilities.
