The US Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command has awarded a $417m follow-on contract to Loc Performance Products to restore lost mobility to the Bradley fighting vehicle.
The latest award and a $161m contract awarded in 2014 together represent the army's Bradley Fighting Vehicle Engineering Change Proposal One (ECP-1) production and fielding programme.

The follow-on award adds 2,264 vehicles to the 1,080 vehicles from the original contract, therefore bringing the total number of vehicles in the US's global Bradley fleet to 3,344, according to the company.
Loc Performance Products president Lou Burr said: "This award validates Loc as the best value provider of suspension, driveline and track systems for combat tracked vehicles.
“The army is driving hundreds of millions of dollars out of the system for upgrades like this through competition. Loc is well positioned to win and deliver on competitive solicitations like this Bradley ECP1 programme.”
Work under the new contract includes fielding upgraded Bradley final drive systems, in addition to the suspension and track systems being upgraded under the original 2014 contract.

Built by BAE Systems, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle is fitted with the latest digitised electronics for optimum situational awareness, network connectivity, and communication.
To date, Bradley has received several upgrades, such as installation of underbelly protection and the Bradley Urban Survivability Kits (BUSK) to further improve the safety of the vehicle.
