BAE has received a contract modification to enhance and upgrade 95 US Army Bradley fighting vehicles with modernised equipment and technology for increased survivability and enhanced situational awareness.

Under the $47m contract, BAE will reset and convert the vehicles from the Bradley Operation Desert Storm (ODS) model to the Bradley Operation Desert Storm situational awareness (ODS SA) configuration.

The upgrades include replacing old equipment with updated components and restoring it to pre-combat condition to continue providing survivability, mobility and lethality to US soldiers in various combat situations.

The Bradley is used by the US Army’s heavy brigade combat team as an infantry fighting vehicle, cavalry fighting vehicle, fire support vehicle, command vehicle and engineer squad vehicle.

Work will be performed at the company’s facilities in Alabama and Pennsylvania, as well as the Red River Army Depot, US, with deliveries to start in March 2012 and end in June 2012.

The contract has been awarded by the US Army TACOM Lifecycle Management.
