The deal, valued at more than DKr500m ($75.m), is expected to strengthen Weibel Scientific’s position in the global market for short-range air defence and anti-drone radar systems.

It also marks a major step toward the company’s target of reaching DKr2.5bn in annual turnover by 2030.

Weibel’s XENTA radar will be produced in Allerød, Denmark, with deliveries planned to take place between 2026 and 2027.

Weibel Scientific CEO Peter Røpke said: “This historic order is not only the largest in the history of our company, but also proof that we are well on our way to achieving our goal of becoming the global leader in radar systems for short-range air defence and protection against hostile drones.

“Our strategic partnership with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has developed over time and is growing stronger week by week.

“The cultures and cooperation between our two companies complement each other well, and our product solutions align perfectly. The demand for our radar solutions is high and rising sharply, and our ambition to be two to three times larger by 2030 is definitely within reach.”

Designed for maximum efficiency on the battlefield, the NOMADS short-range air defence solution is equipped with missiles and designed for rapid deployment. It is capable of operating and completing air defence missions autonomously.

The company anticipates delivering more XENTA surveillance radars to international clients in both military and civilian sectors.

In the coming years, Weibel plans to invest further in the development of its core technologies and expand its workforce.

More than 200 new positions are expected to be created over the next five years to support ongoing growth and market expansion, Weibel said.

Weibel Scientific owner Thomas Øiseth Munkholm said: “Our combination of Doppler and pulse radar technology creates a fundamental competitive advantage across all our customer segments—from radars for testing and qualifying defence systems, to the XENTA surveillance radar, and systems for ballistic missile defence and space activity monitoring.

“All of this is made possible by our nearly 500 employees, and we are incredibly proud of their dedication, unique skills, and accomplishments.”
