Under this agreement, Viasat will also continue to provide an array of technologies and services to enhance communications, security, intelligence, and operational capabilities for both SOF and GPF personnel.

This contract is a continuation of a previous IDIQ award from 2019.

The company’s offerings include tactical gateways, advanced networking solutions, airborne Satcom terminals and hubs, beyond-line-of-sight satellite services, ground terminals and modems, and cybersecurity and encryption tools.

Following its acquisition of Inmarsat in 2023, Viasat has expanded its technology and service capabilities, providing a broad range of flexible and resilient communication solutions to meet the Department of Defense’s (DoD) evolving operational needs.

This contract structure allows the DoD to focus on priorities such as enhanced mobility, resilient networking, cybersecurity, and broadband Satcom services.

It also facilitates the rapid acquisition and integration of new products and systems required by the DoD.

Viasat will continue to assist in identifying and integrating new technologies to meet the DoD’s enterprise C5ISR mission requirements.

Viasat Government president Susan Miller said: “Viasat is proud to be a trusted partner for the entire Joint Force, providing the DoD with a wide range of capabilities and services including advanced tactical networking, ground system and mobile satellite communications (satcom) solutions, information assurance and cybersecurity products, and satellite services.

“We look forward to continuing our close partnership with the DoD to solve complex problems and support military forces across domains with flexible, resilient and secure capabilities that enable enhanced operations and improved situational awareness across the battlespace.”

In 2023, Viasat received $80m in awards in August to develop Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) systems for defence applications across land, maritime, and space domains.
