The US Army has issued a production contract to the Javelin Joint Venture (JJV), a collaboration between Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, for the manufacturing of Javelin missiles, related equipment, and services.
The follow-on contract, capped at $900.5m, is scheduled for fiscal year 2025.

Javelin, a medium-range antitank weapon system, is designed for individual operation but can also be mounted on tracked, wheeled or amphibious vehicles.
JJV has produced more than 55,000 missiles and 12,000 reusable Command Launch Units to date.
Raytheon Precision Fires and Manoeuvre vice-president Brian Burton said: “Javelin remains the world’s most effective, combat-proven anti-armour system. We’re working closely with the US Army and international customers, and continuing to invest in our production facilities, to meet global demand for Javelin.”
The latest contract marks an expansion of the Javelin’s reach, with Brazil and Tunisia becoming the first countries in South America and North Africa to deploy the system through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme.

With the addition of Brazil and Tunisia, the contract supplies Javelin missiles to over 25 international clients.
The contract also includes FMS orders for NATO allies Estonia and Bulgaria, as well as Australia, emphasising the Javelin’s strategic role in the Indo-Pacific.
JJV vice president and Lockheed Martin Javelin program director Rich Liccion stated: “With Javelin’s continued global demand, our ability to ramp production is crucial in supporting our customers’ needs.
“We are committed to delivering this critical defence solution to help our partners stay ahead of ready and defend against the ever-evolving threats worldwide.”
In 2024, the JJV secured a follow-on production deal valued at $1.3bn, the largest single-year production contract for Javelin missiles from the US Army.
The JJV implemented new tooling and testing apparatus to enhance production efficiency in response to growing demand earlier in the year.
