Australia has taken delivery of two AH-64E Apache attack helicopters from the US as part of a Foreign Military Sales agreement.
The US Army Security Assistance Command (USASAC) facilitated the transfer, which forms part of Project Land 4503 Apache Attack Helicopter.

Australia selected the AH-64E Apache as its future attack helicopter platform in 2022. The country ordered a total of 29 such helicopters.
The first four helicopters entered final assembly at Boeing’s facility in Mesa, in the US state of Arizona last July, with deliveries to Australia began in September last year.
In November 2025, it was reported that four helicopters were delivered, and the remaining aircraft are scheduled to arrive before the end of 2028.
The AH-64E Apache features networked systems and is capable of teaming with crewed and uncrewed aerial platforms for integrated operations within Australian Defence Force structures and allied coalitions.

Australian Army personnel have been undergoing training in both the US and UK in preparation for operating and maintaining these aircraft.

Country programme manager for Australia Savannah Bryant said: “The delivery of these aircraft is a monumental success considering it is the first introduction of the capability to Australia.
“It is a perfect example of a team effort in view of the number of entities involved including but not limited to: Air Force crews, Boeing, the Aviation Field Maintenance Directorate, and our Australian partners all working in sync. Seeing everyone focused on the same shared goal is very rewarding.”
