The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) said it will deploy 225 armed forces personnel to support the Scottish ambulance service during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The MoD will deploy 114 personnel to execute non-emergency driving work. Each of them will be paired with a clinical professional and take charge of the role from 25 September.

The members are expected to be on duty for the next few months and will support the central belt of Scotland.

“We are proud to work alongside the dedicated men and women at the Scottish ambulance service as they continue to provide a lifesaving service to the people of Scotland.
“Our commitment to provide rapid support to communities and civil authorities is being delivered alongside the deployment of thousands of personnel on operations around the world.”

By GlobalDataThe remaining 111 personnel will help run Covid-19 mobile testing units that the UK military previously supported last year.
This support team will start their task on 29 September and focus on identifying infections and limit the spread of the virus transmission.
