Spirent Federal Systems has been selected to deliver a Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna (CRPA) Test System to support BAE Systems’ military Code (M-Code) GPS technology development.
As agreed, BAE Systems will use Spirent Federal CRPA Test System for CRPA testing and M-code testing for military GPS receivers.

Spirent CRPA Test System is capable of generating global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and interference signals with a separate RF output per CRPA antenna element.
It is designed for testing CRPAs, MNSA and AES M-code, jamming and spoofing threats and mitigation and ultra-high-dynamic vehicle applications.
The system can also be used for assessing inertial navigation systems and additional encrypted military signals, Y-code and SAASM.
Spirent Federal president and CEO Ellen Hall said: “The CRPA Test System is the culmination of over 35 years of R&D and industry leadership and is perfectly positioned to help with next-generation MGUE [Military GPS User Equipment] modernisation.

By GlobalData“Our robust M-code test capabilities support BAE Systems’ advances in M-code technology.”
Spirent Communications established Spirent Federal Systems in 2001 as a wholly owned subsidiary.
The unit provides test equipment and support in procuring accurate positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) data in GPS-degraded Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR) situations.
The order comes as BAE Systems is engaged in developing an advanced military GPS receiver.
It is also working to enhance the capabilities of size-constrained and power-constrained military GPS applications such as precision-guided munitions and handheld devices.
In May, BAE Systems secured a $325.5m contract to supply advanced M-Code GPS modules to the US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
