Senop, a part of Patria Group, has been subcontracted by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) to support its National/Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System (NASAMS) export programmes.

The contract will see the advanced optronic solutions provider supply integrated Fire Distribution Centres (FDC). It includes FDCs integrated into shelters and spare parts.

The FDC is a proven and fielded air defence battle management command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (BMC4I) module.

This module provides modern BMC4I for current and future air defence missions and integrates systems, sensors, and effectors all in one system.

Senop Oy managing director Aki Korhonen said: “Senop is proud to be a trusted and competent supplier in Kongsberg’s international supply chain, and with its continual improvement hopes to remain so for years to come.”

The latest contract is a continuation to the collaboration between Senop and Kongsberg that began in 2009 when Finland acquired the NASAMS air defence system.

Since the Finnish acquisition of NASAMS, Senop has been involved as a trusted supplier for KDA’s NASAMS export programmes.

Patria said in a statement: “Contract will support the Finnish defence industry through Senop’s broad subcontractor network. Majority of contract value comes within Finnish industry.

“Involvement in Kongsberg’s NASAMS export programmes have ensured local security of supply and maintainability in all circumstances and maintained critical technological know-how.”

NASAMS is a medium-range, network-centric air defence system designed and developed jointly by Raytheon and Kongsberg, primarily for the Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF).

In March, Raytheon Australia secured an $84.5m (A$111m) sustainment contract by the Australian Department of Defence for the national advanced surface to air missile system (NASAMS).
