Science Applications International (SAIC) has won a $2.9bn contract with the US Army to deliver software development and maintenance services and other lifecycle support.

Under the potential five-year task order, SAIC will keep working on advanced technologies during the lifecycle.

SAIC Defense Systems Group executive vice-president and general manager Jim Scanlon said: “This task order award represents a continuation of our successful work on the BSES contract that has spanned several years.

“SAIC and our teammates will ensure that critical technology lifecycle requirements are met in order to advance the army’s mission.

“Our support directly impacts the productivity and success of US soldiers, department of defence partners, other federal government agencies, cooperative research and development/education agreement partners, and foreign military sales.”

Work performed under the order will support the US Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center, Systems Simulation, Software and Integration Directorate.

The company noted that the previous activities carried out as part of two General Services Administration’s (GSA) OASIS professional services contracts will now fall under the GSA’s OASIS Software Life Cycle Development contract.

The two GSA OASIS professional services contracts include Battlefield Systems Engineering Services (BSES) and Strategic Systems Engineering Services (SSES).

In March this year, SAIC secured a $950m contract from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) for the Federal Supply Group – 80 (FSG 80) Program.
