Science Applications International (SAIC) has secured a $3.6bn US Army contract to provide engineering services in support of hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) and modelling and simulation development.

The contract has an eight-year period with a possible extension of six months. It will benefit the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration (S3I) Directorate under the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, Aviation & Missile Center (DEVCOM AvMC).

The SAIC support services will cover the entire lifecycle of AvMC HWIL techniques help develop testing platforms for embedded systems and other multimedia systems.

These products include systems, subsystems, components, as well as software versions and hardware configurations.

SAIC Defense and Civilian Sector president Bob Genter said: “SAIC’s proven past performance, qualifications, and our total solution, including our own research and development offerings, immersive technology, digital modernisation, and our renowned mission engineering and systems integration solutions, were instrumental in winning this work.”

Work under the contract will be carried out at the company’s Huntsville site in Alabama, US.

It will be performed under the General Services Administration’s OASIS professional services contract, which is managed by the Army Contracting Command – Redstone Arsenal.

The latest contract is the fourth significant award for SAIC to support the S3I Directorate, bringing its cumulative face value to over $8.1bn.

The company will lead a team of companies and a network of subcontractors and small businesses.

“With this latest contract award, we have won four major S3I Directorate and DEVCOM AvMCs programmes, ensuring that SAIC, along with our many teammates and small business partners, continues to grow and invigorate the local economy.”

In October, SAIC received a $750m task order to support the US Army National Guard (ARNG) Intelligence and Security (G-2) Directorate.
