Aerospace component provider Safran Electronics and Defense Australasia has officially opened its new workshop in the country.
Located in the south of Sydney, the facility will allow the company to better support the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

Australian Defence Minister Christopher Pyne said the company is already engaged in the delivery and support of complex systems to a wide range of ADF platforms, including the MRH-90 and Tiger helicopters, as well as the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins-class submarines.
Pyne, who officially inaugurated the workshop, said: “This new facility is a vote of confidence in the defence industry and will let Safran better support the ADF.”
The new Safran facility features workrooms built over an area of approximately 100m², in addition to a new and upgraded art clean room, a laser room, and a climatic chamber.
Fitted with specialised equipment, the workshop also has nearly 200m² of office space for 25 people with room for expansion to accommodate up to 50 people.

By GlobalDataIn addition, the development has increased the workforce of the company from 11 to 25 over a period of one year. Safran expects further growth in the next year.
Pyne added: “Safran has developed apprenticeship programmes covering mechanics, logistics and business management.
“This will ensure that Safran and other Australian defence companies have access to a trained, highly skilled workforce well into the future.”
