The integration aligns with the US Army’s requirement for instantaneous threat detection and ISR functionalities within its upcoming drone fleet.

Safe Pro is collaborating with relevant parties to introduce AI-enabled threat detection to the US Department of Defense (DoD), including prime contractors involved with the US Army’s SRR Drone programme.

This follows over two and a half years of successful deployment of Safe Pro AI’s threat detection capability in both Ukraine and the US.

Safe Pro Group chairman and CEO Dan Erdberg said: “Building upon our deployments in Ukraine we are hyper-focused on supporting the US Army with cutting-edge, real-time threat detection capabilities. We are proving in real-world operations that our novel battle tested AI for small object detection can enhance existing and future drone platforms, better enabling them to address the challenges of modern force protection.”

The company claims that its AI-based drone imagery analysis platform is capable of identifying more than 150 types of landmines and unexploded ordnance, processing each image in less than a second.

Safe Pro Object Threat Detection (SPOTD) technology can be deployed instantly on-site (SpotlightAI OnSite) or through cloud services like Amazon Web Services (AWS) (SpotlightAI).

Safe Pro’s SPOTD technology is powered by distinctive datasets that comprise high-resolution drone imagery and GPS-tagged geospatial data.

To date, more than 1.66 million drone images were analysed and more than 28,000 threats identified across 6,705 hectares in Ukraine, an expanse roughly comparable to the size of US city Manhattan.

Following the enactment of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Safe Pro has identified significant potential for its patented AI-driven computer vision technologies in the swift analysis of drone-based imagery.

The bill earmarks up to $30bn in direct expenditures on drones, AI, and broader defence modernisation for the DoD.

In May 2025, Skydio delivered the first batch of X10D small uncrewed aircraft systems (sUAS) as part of the US Army’s SRR Tranche 2 (T2) programme.
