Raytheon has introduced a military training simulator as a proposed solution to meet the requirements of the US Army’s Synthetic Training Environment.
The company unveiled the immersive solution at the ongoing I/ITSEC 2019 modelling, simulation and training event in Florida, US.

Know as Synthetic Training Environment Soldier Virtual Trainer (STE SVT), the virtual reality-based product allows soldiers to practise their skills in multiple scenarios. The platform enables soldier squads to train using real and virtual weapons.
Raytheon’s STE SVT virtual simulator is designed to meet the training needs of dismounted soldiers.
The solution is capable of providing rapid and effective training capability from any location.
In a media release, Raytheon said: “It delivers unmatched realism and accessibility while dramatically reducing the cost and logistical challenge of high-consequence training missions.”

The US Army’s STE platform seeks to enable soldiers to train together virtually from home stations or deployed locations.
STE will combine live, virtual and constructive training. It features the One World Terrain technology that will provide 3-D representations of theatre environments.
Through the STE SVT, Raytheon hopes to revolutionise military training and provide a common synthetic environment for soldiers.
The company stated that the solution will introduce portable laptop-powered AR/VR headsets to replace existing large simulators. The portable headsets are intended for use ‘anywhere at any time’.
