The US Army has awarded a network modernisation contract to Persistent Systems for the delivery of MPU5 networked radio and other services.
The contract is an Other Transaction Authority (OTA) and signifies an important step towards upgrading the service’s integrated tactical network.

It was awarded on behalf of the US Army Network Cross-Functional Team (N-CFT) in coordination with US Army Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications-Tactical (PEO C3T) and PM Tactical Radio (PM-TR).
Under the contract, Persistent will also provide dual push-to-talk devices, sector antennas, deploy the Wave Relay MANET across the RF spectrum, field support services and user training.
The company’s MPU5 networked radio will undergo a 12-month assessment.

We will also demonstrate automated PACE to provide soldiers with highly reliable communications in contested and congested environments.”
The radio uses Wave Relay mobile ad hoc network (MANET) technology to offer a scalable, flat, layer-two network to soldiers on the battlefield.
This allows seamless transport of a robust network down to the level of the dismounted soldier, enhancing real-time situational awareness, informed decision-making and rapid action.
Hulser added: “It’s all about empowering the warfighter with robust communication in a fully networked battlefield.”
