Navistar Defense will provide International 7000-MV medium tactical vehicles (MTV) to Iraq, as part of a foreign military sales contract awarded by the US Army.

Under the $18.8m contract, the company will deliver 115 7000-MVs that are based on the highly multipurpose International WorkStar severe-duty platform designed for both off and on-road operation.

Navistar Defense president Kevin Thomas said: "Since 2004, Navistar Defense has delivered nearly 7,000 trucks and buses to Iraq through foreign military sales contracts.

Work under the contract will be primarily carried out at the company's assembly plant in West Point, Mississippi.

Scheduled for delivery in January 2018, Iraqi security forces in the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defense use these vehicles.

Navistar Defense's dealer in Iraq, Hama, is responsible for providing parts and service support to Navistar vehicles in Iraq and the region.

In March, Navistar Defense had secured two foreign military contracts, totalling more than $475m, from the US Army Contracting Command for mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicles.

The first contract requires the company to produce and support 40 MaxxPro Dash DXM MRAP vehicles for Pakistan.

As part of the second contract, Navistar will reset, upgrade and support 1,085 long wheel base MaxxPro MRAP Excess Defense Article vehicles for the UAE.
