Unitech Composites and Structures has received a contract from the US Army to design and develop a new composite overwrapped pressure vessel (COPV) for its portable helicopter oxygen delivery system (PHODS).
Under the contract, the company will develop and supply an improved, lightweight vessel for the first-generation PHODS system.

Unitech and AGC Composites Group president Alan Haase said, "This next-generation PHODS vessel will provide our soldier with longer oxygen delivery duration as well as a lighter weight vessel."
PHODS is an oxygen-breathing system that provides supplemental oxygen to soldiers without restricting their movements in and around the aircraft.
