Selex ES and Ultra Electronics Command & Control Systems (Ultra CCS) team secured a contract for delivery of driver’s and local situational awareness cameras for the demonstration phase of the UK Army’s Warrior infantry fighting vehicle modernisation.
Awarded by Lockheed Martin UK as part of the £1bn warrior capability sustainment pogramme (WCSP), the contract covers supply of camera solution for up to 13 Warrior vehicles.

Comprising of Selex ES driver’s night vision system four (DNVS4) sensor and the Ultra CCS HUBE cameras, the new cameras will offer an under armour capability to vehicle crew to see 360° around the vehicle and drive by indirect view in both day and night conditions.
Selex ES Optronics UK SVP, Mike Gilbert, said the company has earlier supplied night vision and vehicle situational awareness cameras for a range of UK Army vehicles, including Viking, Challenger II, Mastiff, Ridgback, Wolfhound and Warthog.

By GlobalDataWith DNVS4 ensuring that the vehicle can be safely and effectively manoeuvred during both day and night, the HUBE cameras’ full 360° peripheral coverage enhances battlespace awareness of the Warrior driver and crew.
Further more, the DNVS4’s compliance with the UK’s generic vehicle architecture (GVA) confirms that the camera is future proofed against any further capability improvements, which may be required for the vehicle through its service life.
Anticipated in 2016, following a successful demonstration phase, the manufacturing contract will see the camera system fitted to several hundred Warrior vehicles.
