
Raytheon has introduced the next-generation, tube-launched, optically-tracked, wireless-guided (TOW) EagleFire launcher, developed to fire both wire-guided and wireless radio frequency missiles.
The TOW weapon system includes multi-mission TOW 2A, TOW 2B Aero and Tow Bunker Buster missiles.

Developed to bridge existing launcher capabilities and reduce obsolescence issues, the new launcher is claimed to offer increased capabilities over the TOW 2 launcher at a lower cost.
Raytheon land warfare systems vice-president Duane Gooden said: "We improved target acquisition and engagement found in the older TOW 2 launcher system.
"TOW EagleFire is simpler to maintain and more reliable, thanks to built-in test equipment and a significant reduction in system subassemblies."
The new launcher features ergonomic handgrips and extensive built-in-test capability.

By GlobalDataTOW EagleFire will also provide integrated day-and-night sight with range-finding capability.
According to Raytheon, the launcher’s lithium-ion power source enables for a 9h silent watch capability when a vehicle’s engine is off, along with built-in AC and on-vehicle charging.
Gooden added: "By planning today for tomorrow’s upgrades, TOW EagleFire will accommodate future missile evolution."
This month, Raytheon also completed a successful test firing of new Pike 40mm precision-guided munitions from a standard-tube grenade launcher at Mile High Resources in Texas, US.
Rounds are said to have landed within the targeted impact area, after flying more than 2,300 yards.
