Czech manufacturer Ray Service has received a contract to supply parts for the Swedish Army's vehicle-mounted mortar system, Mjölner.
Awarded by BAE Systems, the contract requires Ray to develop and produce cabling assemblies for 40 mortar systems.

BAE Systems Hägglunds business development director Peter Nygren said: “The design and production of the cable harnesses for the 40 mortar systems is a strong foundation for working together in the future.
“This collaborative effort ensures a role for local industry to produce one of the critical subsystems in the vehicle.”
In December, the Swedish Defence Material Administration awarded an SEK575m ($68m) contract to BAE for the installation of mortar systems on the army's 40 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs).
The installation of mortar systems is anticipated to increase the vehicles’ lifespan in support of army capabilities.

By GlobalDataFirst deliveries of the mortar systems are expected to take place in the first quarter of 2019.
More than 1,200 CV90 IFVs are currently in service with seven nations, including several Nato allies.
The Swedish version of the combat proven vehicle is equipped with a turret featuring a 40mm autocannon.
BAE Systems was also previously contracted to modernise 262 of the Swedish Army's CV90 vehicles, including survivability, turret, and combat system performance upgrades.
If the Czech Government selects CV90, BAE said that it will continue to cooperate with Czech companies to deliver the vehicles and meet current and future security needs of the country.
