Marvin Test Solutions has added two new variants to its MTS-916 modular target simulators line, which are designed to test optical, infrared and laser guided weapons.

The MTS-916 simulator is used to test AGM-65 and AGM-65 Maverick missiles and guidance sections, MAU-169 Paveway target seeker kits, as well as AGM-114 Hellfire missiles.

The newly released MTS-916-6 variant enables the MTS-916 to be used to evaluate AGM-65E/E2/L laser Maverick seeker heads as well as AGM-114B/K/M/N/R versions of the Hellfire missile using the same I-level equipment.

The MTS-916-7 variant is designed to validate laser guided Paveway munitions including the MAU-169, which will extend the flexibility and utility of the MTS-916 family.

Marvin Test Solutions chief executive officer USAF (retired) major general Steve Sargeant said: "The latest versions of the MTS-916 family follow through on our mission to introduce greater commonality and ease of use into armament test by providing maintainers with a common test solution for the popular AGM-65 and AGM-114 weapons systems, considerably simplifying logistics and sustainment costs for operators.

The MTS-916 varients meet a demand for accurate and reliable target simulators that can reliably test the new generation of optically guided and infrared guided weapons, while seamlessly integrating with legacy maintenance and sustainment systems.

With the new releases, the MTS-916 is now available in seven distinct configurations, including MTS-916-1, which is used with TV and charge-coupled device Maverick seekers, the MTS-916-2 used with infra-red Maverick seekers, and the MTS-916-3 that combines the capabilities of the MTS-916-1 and MTS-916-2.

The MTS-916-4 is used with laser Maverick seekers, while the MTS-916-5 is used with laser Hellfire seekers.

Originally designed to replace the ageing AN/DSM-129 and the AN/DSM-787 simulators, the MTS-916 is fully compatible with any Maverick tester using such legacy simulators, including the AN/DSM-157 and the MTS-206, which can test Maverick and Hellfire missiles as well as LAU-117 and LAU-88 launchers.

The MTS-916 target simulators have been successfully deployed in many countries worldwide.
